Hairdressing & Barbering

We deliver Hairdressing & Barbering Apprenticeships in hair salons and barbers throughout Norfolk. You will work with other employees gaining on-the-job training. Our experienced tutors visit monthly to accompany the study side of the Apprenticeship, teaching and enhancing your skills to help grow your knowledge within the hairdressing industry. Our tutors will also set tasks via an online portfolio for the you to complete in-between visits.

In addition, you will be invited to attend workshops at Poultec Training in Mattishall. In these sessions you and other hairdressing or barbering Apprentices will carry out practical work led by your tutor in our fully functioning hair salon helping to develop your hairdressing or barbering skills.

The Apprenticeship will be tailored specifically to the type salon you are working in. You will undergo tasks such as greeting customers, shampooing hair, cutting and colouring hair, cleaning, re-stocking products, answering phone calls, booking appointments and giving clients hair advice and style ideas.

Following the Hairdressing or Barbering Apprenticeship there are opportunities to continue your studies with a higher Apprenticeship or it could lead to becoming a full-time hairdresser/barber, opening and running your own salon, doing hair styles for photo shoots, weddings or cutting and styling hair for the rich and famous.

Intermediate Hair Professional (Hairdressing or Barbering) Apprenticeship

The Apprenticeship will include the following:

• Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals
• Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English (if required)

To complete the Apprenticeship an End Point Assessment will be carried out by an independent assessor. Your tutor will ensure that you are ready for assessment.

Advanced and Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship

The Apprenticeship will include the following:

• Level 3 Diploma for Hair Professionals
• Level 2 Functional Skills Maths & English (if required)

To complete the Apprenticeship an End Point Assessment will be carried out by an independent assessor. Your tutor will ensure that you are ready for assessment.
