Poultec Apprentice’s effort congratulated by HRH Princess Royal
On Tuesday 26th February 2013, Timothy Bullett’s achievements on his Apprenticeship award, with Poultec Training Ltd, found him shaking hands with HRH Princess Royal at the Butchers’ Guild Hall in London.
The presentation of prizes by HRH, The Princess Royal, Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Butchers, took place at the Butchers’ Guild Hall with a total of 13 prizes awarded. The award ceremony took place before a luncheon, during which HRH circulated and discussed hot topics with winners and their guests.
Timothy Bullett, who works at Gressingham Foods, won the award for ‘Best Student in Poultry Industry’ after completing his intermediate apprenticeship with Poultec Training in 2012. Since then Timothy has progressed onto an advanced apprenticeship programme at Gressingham Foods. Timothy impressed HRH by explaining that he has taken the unusual step to teach himself two other languages (Polish and Portuguese) to enable him to help and support the non-English speaking workforce in his working area. Timothy explained that this has been a great advantage, as he is able to explain tasks in greater detail rather than just relying on his own language. Timothy was accompanied by Ann Ashwell (Group Personnel Manager) and Dennis Petersen (Operations Director) from Gressingham Foods and Tim Hammond (his assessor) and Kevin Bowman (Food Manufacturing Manager) from Poultec Training Ltd.
Ann Ashwell, Group Personnel Manager for Gressingham Foods said; “the whole company was extremely proud of Timothy’s achievement, at Gressingham Foods we like to think we are at the forefront of staff development and Timothy’s success has secured this standing and we are absolutely delighted. Timothy was a real hit with HRH Princess Royal who spoke to him at length both during and after the ceremony. It was an amazing day for all of us; we too had the honour of meeting and speaking to Princess Ann who took the time to speak with everyone present”. Timothy said it was one of the most memorable days of his life and he thanked all at Gressingham Foods and Poultec Training for their encouragement and support without whom he said the day would not have been possible.
